- Traveled with family to 46 out of the 50 states (the pandemic delayed completion of all 50 to 2022)
- Lives in a home always filled with beautiful music from wife, Yuan-Qing Yu (Assistant Concertmaster of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra), daughter, Margaret (singer and violinist), and son, Aaron (cellist)
